Francis Dodd RA. RWS (1874-1949):
The painter and printmaker Francis Dodd was born in Holyhead, Wales and trained at Glasgow School of Art and in Paris and Italy. On his return to England he established a studio in Manchester and became an active member of the New English Art Club. He painted and etched mainly suburban scenes and portraits. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1927 and a full member in 1935. He was also a Member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours. He exhibited widely. Collections: Tate Gallery, Imperial War Museum and elsewhere.
